The family of Alan Turing, the subject of the Oscar-award winning film The Imitation Game, delivered signatures from the Change.org petition calling for the more than 49,000 men who were convicted under the UK's now revoked anti-gay laws, to be pardoned, like Turing was, to No. 10 Downing Street, the office of the Bristish Prime Minister.
Rachel Barnes, 52, (great niece), Thomas Barnes, 21 (great great nephew) and Nevil Hunt (great nephew) delivered over half a million signatures from the petition that was started on January 26 by Change.Org. (See Picture)
Let us hope that the British Government will right this awful wrong, that not only impacted the tens of thousands of British gay men, but continues to haunt LGBTI Africa, as draconian British imposed Penal Codes, through Colonization, continue to serve as the impetus for arrests, state sanctioned persecution and even harsher new legislation.
