AHRC HAS NOT PAID FOR REFUGEES TO LEAVE KENYA. AHRC IS NOT MISSIONED TO MOVE REFUGEES AROUND AND WE DO NOT FINANCIALLY SUPPORT SUCH ENDEAVORS.
It has come to the attention of African Human Rights Coalition (AHRC) that a large migration has taken place from Nairobi and Kakuma camp to South Sudan by LGBTQI refugees leaving Kenya. It has come to the attention of AHRC that such is being led by alleged straight imposters who are pretending to be LGBTQI+ and paying for this migration, to serve to legitimate their deception. AHRC is setting the record straight by here denying rumors that AHRC is the organization which is sponsoring this migration. NO AHRC is NOT sponsoring this or any migration from Kenya.
Please note that AHRC does NOT move refugees from environments where they are registered through UNHCR with host governments to other countries, regardless of circumstances.
We have not played any part in such migration, which may be construed as smuggling, and warn opportunists that we will report cases where our name is fraudulently invoked by opportunists. AHRC has also not participated in advising people to change their refugee locations. This is a decision refugees make on their own and is often based on rumors that a particular place may be resettling refugees quicker than other places.
In stating this it is important for people to note that no two cases are alike in terms of circumstances and the vetting undertaken for resettlement. Resettlement is not guaranteed to everyone and only a small percentage of refugees are actually resettled.
AHRC has warned previously that protesting and public outing of one's sexuality and gender identity is extremely dangerous in African refugee camp settings and that people should invest in self security. We have also issued advisories calling on legitimate LGBTQI+ people to not platform known straight people who fraudulently use LGBT profiles for refugee claims. Thank you TEAM AHRC
