DEC 19, 11.24 AM EST: Madina MP Francis Xavier Sosu Commends Supreme Court Ruling Against Anti-LGBTQ Bill Challenge: Upholds Rule of Law and Separation of Powers: Madina MP, Francis-Xavier Sosu, has expressed his support for the Supreme Court's judgment dismissing petitions against the 'Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, 2024' (Anti-LGBTQ Bill). Sosu described the ruling as a reaffirmation of the rule of law and the principle of separation of powers.

He noted that the Supreme Court upheld the constitutional process, emphasizing that Parliament's role in the legislative process ends with the President's assent. Sosu further explained that if the President has reservations about the bill after it is transmitted to him, the Constitution provides clear guidelines. The President may return the bill to Parliament with specific reasons for his refusal, allowing Parliament to decide whether to amend its provisions.

Commenting on the petitions filed by Richard Sky and Dr. Amanda Odoi, Sosu stated that the actions were premature. He commended the Supreme Court for upholding the constitutional framework and respecting the boundaries between the judiciary and the legislature.
